Semen facials are the latest beauty craze

Are semen facials the new beauty secret? Are semen facials the new beauty secret?

Experts debunk the rumours surrounding the semen facial trend.

Beauty experts are constantly looking for ways to invigorate and nourish our skin but this latest revelation might just be a step too far. Semen facials are the latest beauty craze and it is said to do wonders for our skin.

There’s no shortage of all-natural remedies when it comes to getting that perfect glow. One of those remedies involves rubbing semen all over your face all in the name of a dewy glow and skin doesn't look a day over 20.

This may sound suspicious and we don't blame you, it may be just a rumour spread by the patriarchy or there may be some truth to it.

Here’s everything you need to know!

There’s protein in semen, which is good for you but in essence doesn't make much of a difference.

It’s true that protein does good things for your skin, hair, and nails. It’s also true that semen contains protein however there’s not enough protein in semen to provide any benefits for your skin. There's also no evidence that topically applying protein to your skin would do any good anyway.

There’s actually nothing in semen that has any benefits for your skin If having someone come on your face is the sort of thing you are into, then that's great but if you're doing it in the name of flawless skin then you will have to have a re-think. Apparently, there is nothing in semen that has demonstrable skin benefits.

Semen facials don't actually work

Certain scary corners of the beauty blogosphere have gone as far as creating semen facial tutorials but just because a beauty blogger tells you something, doesn't mean you have to take it at face value. Some bloggers use these 'tutorials' as click-bait and to get views but they are not steeped in any scientific fact.

You can actually be allergic to semen

So instead of making your skin look as fresh as it did the day you were born, going full semen facial could actually leave your skin irritated and dry. There have been many case reports where an individual developed an allergy to one of the proteins in semen, which resulted in contact dermatitis, an allergic reaction that causes redness and swelling in the affected area.

Stay woke out there ladies, if you're putting semen on your face for any reason other than a good time then you will be sorely disappointed.

Let's stick to traditional beauty methods until proven otherwise.
