Shatta Wale is the greatest of all time, I'd buy him a brand new Bentley — Aik Abani

Describing Shatta Wale as a dancehall god, God's own gift to African showbiz amongst other eulogies, the Chief Executive Officer for one of Africa's richest entertainment companies — Aik Livingston Abani of MaddHaus Entertainment minced no words as he endlessly defended actions of the controversial musician on the night of the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, VGMA.

At the 20th anniversary of the VGMAs that took place in Accra on Saturday, May 18, Shatta's rival Stonebwoy had to pull out a gun to scare off Shatta Wale and his crew from invading his space as he climbs the stage to receive his award for best reggae dancehall artiste. Violence broke out and the event had to be called off shortly after it resumed.

MCs for the event, Chairman General Sefa Kai and Berla Mundi explained that, two controversial awards were being withheld by organizers. And at a planned presser in coming days, the public would be informed and briefed on the unfortunate incident and way forward.

But, sharing his opinion on the event, Aik Abani saw the happenings as major entertainment stunt used to propel greater attention for artistes and the entire music industry. He writes on his Facebook wall..

"Charles Nii Armah Mensah, the African dancehall god, the BEAST, the G. O. A. T. the ENTERTAINER, King of the streets, God’s Gift to Africa, the teacher, most loyal brother. I knew it, always knew it, you have it, always have, always will. The sky is your stepping stone. Enemies no reach, they are all learners. Keep doing you, REIGN FOREVER my blood. You see that Bentley? It’s on me, mark it on the wall, the Bentley is on me. Keep doing you, BROTHER!!! SHATTA WALE NIMA!!!"

Also, in a related note, the CEO of Vodafone Ghana Ltd, title sponsors and bankrollers of the awards scheme condemned the incident.

Madam Patricia Obonai shared this message on her Instagram page.

"Music is a great unifier. I condemn any behaviour that ends up tarnishing the image of the Ghana Music brand. It is one great platform and we should all protect it.
Congratulations to all nominees and award winners. Very well deserved. Super proud of you."
