Shatta Wale steals show in Kumasi

Dancehall icon, Shatta Wale, was the toast of hundreds of people, including women and the youth who converged on the Abbeys Park in the Manhyia South Constituency of Kumasi last Friday night.

The ace musician sent the huge crowd going crazy as he performed some of his hit tracks during a mega musical concert organised by the Ashanti Regional Police Command and the Regional Police Band.

Dubbed ‘A Night with the Regional Police Commander,’ the show, instituted by DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, is geared towards bringing the police closer to the public.

News that Shatta Wale would be performing at the show travelled fast like wild fire and it attracted a sizeable number of people from all corners of Kumasi to the event venue.

Shatta Wale did not disappoint as he lived up to his high billing by putting up a brilliant show which sent high-powered personalities at the function to the dancing floor.

Even after he had finished performing the crowd, the youth, in unison, chanted ‘Shatta, Shatta, Shatta,’ a clear indication that they wanted more performance from their idol.

Police personnel present had a daunting task in controlling the overjoyed crowd as Shatta Wale was leaving the event venue. Some of his fans even raced after Shatta Wale’s car still chanting his name.

DCOP Kofi Boakye explained that the ‘Night with the Ashanti Regional Police Commander’ concept is mainly to bridge the gap between the police and the public through music.

The police capo, who was born and bred at Ash Town, urged the youth in the area to shun bad companies and illegal lifestyles and rather learn seriously, saying, “I am one of you and you can also become like me.”

DCOP Kofi Boakye stated that the police were in firm control of the security situation of the region, stressing that any hoodlums who try to foment trouble would be nabbed to face the law.

He entreated the people to provide the police with valuable information that would lead to the arrest of criminals from their hideouts, warning the people against giving false information to the police.

Other musicians who performed at the show were Asiebu Amenfi, Nana Aboagye Dacosta, Prof. Kofi Abraham and the Ashanti Regional Police Band.
