The mother of the late Sowutuom-based artiste, Nana Yaw, who was tragically lynched while visiting his alleged girlfriend in Abuakwa-Tanoso, Ashanti Region, has spoken out, alleging that the girlfriend, identified as Nana Yaa, played a role in his death out of shame.
According to the grieving mother, reports indicate that Nana Yaw had visited his girlfriend, a married woman residing in the same compound with her in-laws. In the early hours of the morning, he went outside to urinate, where he was spotted by one of the lady’s relatives who questioned his presence.
The mother recounted that her son allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory answer, prompting accusations of theft and a call for him to be lynched.
“They said my son went to visit a lady named Nana Yaa, who lives in the same compound with her in-laws. Yes, in the same house with her in-laws. I heard she is married and her husband lives abroad. So my son visited her, and around 1 am, he went out to urinate and the lady’s relative saw him," the mother explained in an interview shared on the Instagram page of Thosecalledcelebs.
According to her, when Nana Yaw attempted to clarify that he was not a thief, Nana Yaa allegedly intervened to avoid embarrassment, slapping him twice.
“They said when the lady saw my son and he tried to explain that he wasn’t a thief, Nana Yaa slapped him twice to silence him and prevent shame,” she added.
The family is devastated by the loss and continues to seek justice for their son, emphasizing that Nana Yaw was not a criminal and did not deserve such a tragic end.
