Show my head to the people; It's worth seeing - Comedian OB

Comedian OB Comedian OB

Georges Danton’s words about his head directed to his executioner some four centuries ago on his execution day, somehow appears to motivate this comedian, not the least because of the size of his head, though.

Even if that is the case, why not? “Life is too short to remove a USB drive safely; just pull the damn thing out.”

He has this quote also on his profile on Twitter. Whatever it means, does it also goes to sum up his belief in life? If that is the case, then his burst onto the Ghanaian comedy scene shouldn’t be a surprise.

“From obscurity, to put it, to blowing everybody’s mind as I was made to believe, and just one radio appearance at Pluzz Fm is what has made me what I am today. Otherwise, I will be in my corner ‘eyeing’ people.”

That is Comedian OB who says his profession is optometry and has comedy as a career. The Doctor Comedian appears unrelenting, pushing his comedy career. And rightly so, within a relatively short period of time since hitting the limelight, he has graced every major comedy show in the Ghana.

Some notable platforms he has mounted include: A Night of 1021 Laughs and Music, KSM’S Afia Siriboe 2015 at the National theatre, Eddie Kadi Live in Ghana at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Lords of the Ribs 3, Performance at Coca-Cola official launch 2016, Pure Comedy II & III (Corporate edition) at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi.

OB has also made impressions at Live Comedy at the H2O Restaurant Lounge and Sports Bar, Comedy Bar at the Silver Lounge, Accra, Music, Magic, Comedy Show by ETV at the Global Cinemas, Weija, LCT, Rina’s Restaurant at the Oxford Street Mall and Comedy Fiesta Tour at various tertiary institutions

OB aka Dr. Amponsah Obarima Akuoko is a product of Opoku Ware School and an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He holds a Bsc in Opthalmic Science and a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree. He is a registered member of the Ghana Optometric Association (GOA), the Society of Private Optometrists in Ghana (SPOGH) and the Allied Health Professions Council Ghana (AHPC). He is a practicing Optometrist by profession and currently works with Watborg Eye Services, Kasoa.

His love for the arts, and the craft he adores does not conflict with his medical practice in anyway. To him, one you have been trained to make sure people have perfect sight that is enough indication to know how to balance life.

OB is that sure bet for your corporate events. As MC, he knows how to use his background to help drive corporate events. He says he is yet to disappoint on that score, and hopes not to.

“I am happy I have been able to make an impression in Ghana’s entertainment circles. If critics and showbiz stalwarts like Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, Giovanni Elolo Caleb, Francis Doku, Kwame Gyan to mention a few have endorsed what you to, and for KSM to put you on his show, then I can’t afford to relax,” he said.

“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved… or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection…..” the Doctor was quick to exhibit his Biblical knowledge with this quote from Philippians.

For OB, he is still on a discovery mission, and hopes “to be discovered in the EMY’s Award next year for the Discovery Man of the Year prize because my head, the favourite part of my body is right out there.”
