Ghanaian media personality and fashionista, Kofi Okyere Darko also known as KOD has revealed that prior to the 2016 general elections, he believed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, then a presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be the next person to elevate Ghana to the next level after the country’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview with Bernard Avle, KOD explained that based on the manifesto, policy intentions of the president, as well as the speech he delivered during his swearing-in ceremony on January 7, 2017, he strongly believed that the president would be the most impactful president after Kwame Nkrumah to rule Ghana.

He said, “In my opinion, my strong conviction, I thought if there was anybody to take Ghana beyond what Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah did, it was probably going to be Nana Akufo-Addo. I sincerely believed so. “I listened to his speech when he was swearing-in in 2017, and I said well it’s too sad the NDC didn’t win but let’s see what he does and I thought this could be a turning point in this country.”

He expressed his disappointment in the president for his abysmal performance and failure. “Today, I look back at what Ghana has become and the state we are in now and I am like no, this is not what we expected.”
