Six disappointed artistes in 2017 who need to work hard this year

In music journey, breakthrough isn’t difficult comparably to staying relevant for years. That’s why Ghana music industry over the years has witnessed countless number of one time hit artistes who fade away after a year.

This is as a result of many factors especially complacency because most artistes get swollen head after getting public applause. Below is a list of the few among many Ghanaian artistes who started so well in 2016 but struggled to penetrate in 2017 all other things being equal.

EL

EL, former BBnZ Live signed act managed to give birth to an album dubbed B.A.R 4 in 2017. Regardless, EL Ghanaians know as 2016 VGMA artiste of the year was never influential comparably to 2017. As such, music consumers are expecting he comes back stronger in 2018.

R2Bees

Truth be told, ever since R2Bees joined the camp of Wizkid’s Starboy records has never been influential in Ghana music like before. Not long ago, Ghbase.com published a blog whereby section of the fans of R2Bees rebelled against their favorite group being a subsidiary of Starboy records. To the fans, R2Bees should part ways with Starboy records this year in order to redeem their lost glory in our music industry.

Bisa Kdei

Bisa Kdei gave Ghanaians 2016 Christmas bash with “Brother & Mansa” chart toppings songs. In the process, he self professed himself as one of the pioneers when it comes to Ghana High Life in which he retracted the statement following public uproar. Fast forward, 2017 in the music life of Bisa Kdei was never a success comparably to 2016. He managed to compose “Sister Girl”, yet it never helped.

Medikal

In 2016, Medikal was the icon for Arab Money Gang (AMG) Business with his hardcore rapping style. He won the hearts of many especially Tertiary education students because he was able to blend rap with swag. Medikal was tipped by music pundits as one of Sarkodie’s succession acts. However, Medikal’s shine and influence seems to be fading with the speed of Usain Bolt. Although he managed to release an album dubbed, “Disturbation” yet no significant effect in 2017 all other things being equal.

Kofi Kinaata

Kofi Kinaata became a household name when he released “Susuka” in 2016. His Fante rap style was one in a million but 2017 was a dry season for Kinaata. He released “Time No Dey” yet no responsive impact. It took his appearance on Captain planet’s “Obi Agye Obi Girl” to register his name on the lips of the few. Even with that, his version on the song was labeled as subnormal by Ghanaian music consumers.

Kaakie

The dance hall diva was sensational to listen and watch her perform under JMJ or better still Xtra Large Music label, however, things became stagnant after parting ways with the aforementioned producer cum record label somewhere 2017.

To conclude, the aforementioned artistes aren’t the only musicians best labeled “disappointed” in 2017 under review. The purpose of this blog is to help artistes who struggled in 2017 to go back to the drawing board and make the necessary correction in order to bounce back stronger than before.
