Tamale-based rapper Maccasio has given his account of what caused the feud between him and colleague Fancy Gadam, stressing that the singer is jealous of him.
The two artistes who hail from the Northern region have made headlines following a long-standing battle for supremacy catapulting into fierce scuffle between their fans.
It is instructive to state that both artistes have held successful shows in the north where they have a huge fan base.
Addressing what caused the feud, Maccasio in an interview on Zylofon FM's Showbiz Agenda, Wednesday mentioned that his success scares Fancy Gadam for which reason the singer has been jealous of him over the years.
Maccasio told host Sammy Flex that whenever they were billed for performances at events, Fancy Gadam would perform first and refuse to leave the stage to make way for him.
“Organisers would normally want me to be the last artiste to perform so when he climbs the stage, he will perform till the people are tired so the show will close,” he says. “But even if he performs till 8am next day, the people will still be there waiting for Maccasio. Sometimes, when he delays, the fans will argue and it will turn to something else. He has done that many times.”
Asked why he [Maccasio] does not perform before Fancy Gadam, he answered, “If I perform, the show will close. He knows that and that’s why they allow him perform first.”
While commending his rival for winning an award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Maccasio stressed he was never jealous of Fancy Gadam.
“It’ll will a big shame to be jealous of him. I should be jealous of Sarkodie or the best rappers in Africa… That guy, he was some small boy in my area. We used to send him…,” he intimated.
