Ghanaian actor, Kwaku Manu has blamed some key industry players who have been employed by the New Patriotic Party’s Government to spearhead the art sector for pursuing their own agenda.

The actor who is based in Kumasi referred to those Arts personnel holding positions in the ruling party as insensitive.

Making reference to the recent announcement that government of Ghana is planning to build a Film Village at Kyebi in the Eastern Region, Manu indicated that the hub of Ghanaian movies is Kumasi so the Film Village should be built in the Ashanti region of Ghana.

He said Socrate Safo, Mark Okraku Mantey, others are occupying positions in the art sector to pursue their own selfish interest.

According to Kwaku Manu, these key industry players do consider themselves first, deciding to do what is best for them and refused to think carefully about the needs of the industry they claimed they are part of.

“We hope that the new film village will be built in Kumasi. This shouldn’t be politicized and shouldn’t be someone’s personal interest.

Government should’ve invited all stakeholders in the movie industry to decide on the location for the film village.

As for Socrate Safo, Mark Okraku Mantey, others in the industry are only thinking of themselves and not the industry that is why we directly presented the petition to parliament.” Kwaku Manu told Vibes in 5

When asked of their next plan if parliament fails to reply to their film village request, Kwaku Manu said, “If they refuse to do the needful, we have nothing to do to them but let’s not forget that we VOTE in this country so we will all VOTE when the time comes.”
