St. James Seminary emerge winners of Horticultural Quiz competition

Sunyani (B/A) Nov. 1 GNA- The Director of the Department of Parks and Gardens (DPG), Mr. George Owusu Afriyie has presented items worth eight million cedis as prizes to the winners of a quiz competition organised by the Department in Sunyani to mark this year's Horticultural Week celebration.

The items which comprised a 20 -inch television set, a table top refrigerator, a tape recorder and a wall clock, went to four second cycle schools in the Brong Ahafo Region who won the quiz competition organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in the Sunyani Municipality.

St. James Seminary / Secondary School emerged winners with 63 points and received the television set as a prize. Fiapre Notre Damme Secondary School received the refrigerator for placing second with 60 points while Sunyani Secondary School placed third with 59 points and took the tape recorder as its prize.

Mr. Owusu Afriyie implored the students to take their studies very seriously to enable them achieve high academic laurels. Mr. George Sackey, a tutor at Ghana Secondary/Technical School in Takoradi who was the Quizmaster advised the students against illicit sex, drug abuse and other social vices, which could ruin their lives.
