Ghanaian rapper, Kwame Nsiah-Apau, well known as Okyeame Kwame, has regretted spending three years of his time in America.

Okyeame Kwame labelled his stay in America as a bad decision when addressing his fans at a diner session organized by Hilynkscom at Papa’s Pizza in Accra which was covered by Zionfelix.net.

The Rap Doctor said he didn’t return to Ghana after he had the opportunity to travel to the United States of America with Daddy Lumba for a World Tour following the release of their song ‘M’asan Aba’.

According to him, his group, Akyeame was the best music group in the country and the first hiplife group to win Ghana Music Award in 1999 when he took that decision.

Okyeame Kwame stated his aim was to stay and study as he had a girlfriend who was living in New York.

The ‘Small Small’ composer revealed how his girlfriend later broke his heart and he had to wash dishes, sell oranges on the streets to survive.

He admitted that the experience he had during his stay outside the country motivated him to work harder to reach where he is now.

Okyeame Kwame indicated he doesn’t see obstacles as a failure, rather a conflict that he must overcome.

He defined growth as moving from a lower comfort to higher comfort through an uncomfortable transition.
