Stella ?Seal? Dugan ? The Stylish Gospel Artiste

Stella Dugan
The name Stella Dugan needs no introduction on the local gospel music landscape as she has done enough to contribute to the development of the profession.

She is the only female gospel artiste who has a unique style in the presentation of herself, an act all her fans admire for her.

Stella, who now wants to be known as Stella Seal, started her musical career professionally in 1990, when she put out her debut album, which she titled ?You?re In My Heart?.

The album, which had all the eight tracks on it sang in English, did not do well because as she puts it ?I think at the time it did not catch on well with the people who didn?t understand why I chose to sing in English instead of the local dialect?.

In-spite of the huge failure, she did not give up, but went ahead to release her second album, ?Daadaa Nyinaa?. The release of this album served as the turning point of the Personality and Inspirational Voice of the Year Award.

In her 15-year musical career, Stella has seven (7) albums to her credit. The songs include; ?Ahenman Mu, Okra Ye Mu, Otonko? and another English album she recorded for a United kingdom-based record company, Stern Records, and currently, ?Oye Onyame?.

Stella has maintained some consistency in her musical career by releasing good songs all the time, thereby making her one of the few artistes in the country who have succeeded in endearing themselves to the teeming gospel followers in the country.

Stella, who before entering music, had wanted to become a nurse, is presently preparing herself to release her latest album.

According to her, she is very optimistic that the new album will continue to place her in the brackets of the big shots in the industry, if not high and above her present status.
