Remember all you heard about American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer and actress Ms. Lauryn Hill’s three-day series of music and art events celebrating the African Diaspora that had a number of Ghanaian artists lined up to perform? Yeah, all you heard was right and the Ghanaian contingent never disappointed.
From E.L, Mr. Eazi, Jojo Abot to BET Award winner Stonebwoy, the artists gave a good account of themselves as they performed to a sold out international audience what they have been missing from the motherland, the African continent.
The concert was held on Friday April 15 and live-streamed on Tidal.
According to Ms. Lauryn Hill, Diaspora Calling, is a collection of works “intended to celebrate the rich tapestry of artists from the African Diaspora while also illumining persistent and irrepressible themes… Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves.”
Other performers on the night were Wondaboy (Nigeria), Machel Montano (Trinidad), Stephen ‘Ragga’ Marley (Jamaica), and Paul Bearbrun (Haiti).
