Ghanaian musician Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru, has stated that endorsements from industry colleagues such as Sarkodie, LilWin, Dr. Cryme, and Stonebwoy played a pivotal role in his victory in the University of Ghana Student Representative Council (SRC) elections.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on October 10, 2024, Guru highlighted that Sarkodie's endorsement was particularly groundbreaking and instrumental in his success.

"Big shout out to Dr. Cryme, LilWin, and other artistes who campaigned door-to-door with me. They truly helped me, and a big thank you to Stonebwoy for his endorsement when we went to GIMPA. King Sark's endorsement was a game-changer," he said.

He also expressed gratitude to his fans and everyone who supported him during his campaign.

Background

Earlier this year, Guru declared his candidacy for the 2024 University of Ghana SRC elections.

After weeks of campaigning, the "Lapaz Toyota" hitmaker was initially disqualified on the grounds of being a non-resident. However, following legal battles and challenges, he was reinstated as a presidential candidate.

Guru and his running mate, Jeffery Adu-Yeboah, ultimately secured 50.7% of the votes, totaling 9,455 out of approximately 18,659 voters, making them the victors of this year's UG SRC election.
