Afrobeats musician, Kelvyn Boy has sparked controversy with his claims that his own boss, Stonebwoy and SM boss, Shatta Wale are not real Dancehall artistes.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM, Kelvyn said the genre the two artistes specialize in is Afro-Dancehall and not the ‘real’ Dancehall.
According to him, it’s for this reason Beyonce chose Shatta Wale for the ‘Already’ collaboration and the song they produced is Afrobeats.
“Beyoncé came to Africa and she did Afrobeat with Shatta Wale. I feel like Afrobeat is what we have to accept as ours. We are not recognised outside with those genres otherwise Beyoncé would’ve gone to Jamaica for a Dancehall act,”
Kelvyn Boy is an award-winning musician signed to Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group (BMG).
