Ghanaian stand-up comedian Derrick Kwabena Bonney, also known as DKB, has chastised persons questioning his intellectual capacity to analyse the manifestoes and policies of political parties in Ghana because he is a comedian.
According to him, it is very unfortunate for people to assume that comedians lack the knowledge and intellect to comment on the ideas of politicians.
In a video shared on X, the comedian detailed his educational background and why he is fit to talk about issues of national concern.
He captioned the video, "This is a warning to the lame people who, when I'm discussing NDC/NPP policies, question my knowledge in economics and governance because I'm a comedian! Stop the fullish, condescending nonsense.”
In the said video, DKB said, “Most of you guys don’t know me. Those of you who just got to know me through comedy, I think you are very lame if you think a comedian is just all about comedy and knows nothing with no educational background.
“When I was doing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the University of Ghana, where were you? I also did it in secondary school. Can most of you qualify to read that course at the University of Ghana?”
He continued, “When I come out and I am commenting on trending issues, like the NPP manifesto launch and the NDC’s policies, then you hear people come to say, What does a comedian know about the economy?”
DKB maintained that he is very learned and equally qualified to comment on all issues that concern him.
