Student Killed By Jealous Neighbour

A 35 year-old final year student of the University College of Education, Winneba, has been stabbed to death for allegedly "camping" a neighbour's girlfriend in his room.

Emmanuel Ametepey, 30, was said to have found his girlfriend, Yaa Awunyo, in Gilbert Ekor's room and allegedly stabbed Ekor with a chisel in a fit of rage.

The incident happened on June 29, the police told the Times on Monday, July 11, 2005. Ashanti Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Paul Siaw Frimpong, said Ametepey attempted to kill Awunyo but some people who heard her screams rushed to her rescue. Ametepey was himself saved by the Police from being lynched by the people who rushed there in response to the screams.

Both Awunyo and Ametepey receiving medical treatment at the Agogo Hospital while investigations continue into the matter, Mr Frimpong said.
