Time Out has become a magazine that straddles the globe, providing the latest, most reliable and informed information on what’s happening anywhere in the world, from Abu Dhabi to Zagreb, and now, Accra. Anita spent a day with the publishers of Time Out Accra, Marcel and Michel Kouassigan. These identical twins are the big brains behind this magazine.

Jewellery - going for gold in Ghana

There’s a growing desire for African history and culture, especially by people of African descent in the Diaspora, and two Ghanaian manufacturers, one traditional, one contemporary, are going for gold, Anita visited some of the jewellers from Ghana to learn more about African jewellery.

Opening of the Pan African film Festival

Studio 53 attended the 18th annual Pan African Film and Arts Festival, a festival that takes place during Black History Month and is one of Los Angeles’ cultural jewels.

PAFF is a leading U.S. showcase for independent studios, students and foreign films, especially from Africa. PAFF is arguably America’s top black movie event and this year’s edition was themed, "Get Involved, Take Action!," and the city of Los Angeles did just that!

Afrophonie Music Festival

The 5th edition of the Afrophonie party cooked up another dazzling Pan-African combo made up of the tastiest African sounds harvested between Cameroon, Nigeria, Swaziland and Mzansi. Studio 53 was at this event.

Lenny Green, radio DJ (New York)

Gaetano interviewed the renowned African-American radio DJ from New York’s Kiss FM, Lenny Green. Lenny is the host of the wildly popular show, Kissing After Dark.

Selaelo Selota (Johannesburg, South Africa)

Lebo met up with jazz maestro, music producer, vocalist and guitarist, Selaelo Selota and got to find out more about the man’s passion for music, his latest album, Lapeng La ka, which means ‘in my house’ in sePedi (one of the official languages in South Africa), which is Selota’s fifth album.
