Akan Movie stars have welcomed the President John Dramani Mamaha’s comments that he enjoys watching Akan movie when he is traveling outside Ghana.

President John Mahama in an interview on Accra-based Uniiq FM on Wednesday, August 12 revealed that he enjoys watching local movies which mostly feature Lil Win, Agya Koo and others.

President‘s comment has ignited much happiness in most of the movie stars in Ghana up making them feel that their works are been recognized by the first gentleman of the land.

Matilda Asare; according to her they thank God that their hard work has been recognized by the president.

Sharing her thought on Ashh fm Entertainment Zone last Sunday, Matilda Asare called on the president not to only praise them but rather support them financially.

"We are much delighted about the president’s recognition but we are not also pleased about the name 'Kejetia Hollywood' he gave to us’’

On her part, Actress Ama Boahemaa popularity known as Mama Kali also appealed to the president to hold a dialogue with them in one of his leisure time.

Outspoken actor Nana Osei Kwame Obrempong on the same show said the president should not heap lip service on them but should rather invest in the film industry.

Nana Kwame said they need more support from the government to sustain the industry. "You can’t use only your mouth to praise us, at least there should be some kind of money to support us".

He challenged President Mahama to allocate funds to support the collapse industry to prove that he indeed enjoys their films.
