Suspected Armed Robber Lynched to Death

A suspected armed robber has been lynched at Awudome Estates in Ghana's capital Accra. The dead man, believed to be in his 30s, and his accomplices are reported to have snatched a taxicab from its driver. They were chased by a group of young men in another car.

There was an exchange of fire between the two groups and the suspected armed robbers lost control of their cab and ran into a ditch. The alleged car snatchers tried to ran away from the scene but one of them was caught and beaten to death by the mob, which had gathered. Before the police arrived at the scene, the robber had already being killed.

The action of the mob followed the spate of armed robberies in Accra. A similar robbery occured at the same venue on Friday, when another group of armed robbers entered a forex bureau and made away with millions of cedis.
