FOR the last couple of weeks TV3 has been carrying an advertisement promoting a Nigerian made film whose title makes one wonder whether TV3 has lost its direction, its sense of propriety or both. This is an advert that shows two little boys acting out childish pranks which ordinarily should create a lot of amusement to viewers but the problem is the title: Small S**t.
Ghanaians are known to be well-cultured people who appreciate what is decent and what is not whether it is in word or deed and therefore we do all we can to avoid words considered to be indecent. It therefore comes as a big surprise to Showbiz that TV3 which makes self-claim as First in News, Best in Entertainment to have persistently carried such an offending advert.
Our question is: Isn’t there anybody at TV3 who noticed the four-letter word? Or is it that they just don’t care?
Showbiz has on other occasions raised issue over the avalanche of Nigerian films that have been coming into the country and has added its voice to various calls urging the Cinematography Board as well as television stations to look out for the offending contents that most of such films carry.
It is a very sad case that Small S**t has supposedly gone through all the checks and yet is being aired as it is. We call for an immediate stop to the offending television advert, an apology to viewers and censure for those at TV3 who passed it.
