Taxi driver remanded for biting-off security officer's lower lip

Tema, Aug. 24, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'B' has remanded into police custody Evans Overtey Harrison, a taxi driver, for biting-off the lower lip of a private security officer.

Harrison, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing unlawful harm, was remanded to re-appear on August 31, 2009. The court presided over by Mrs Ananda Aikins, heard from the prosecution that the complainant, the security officer working with FOS End Security Services, resides at Tema Community "18", while the accused stays at Tema Community "2".

Police Chief Inspector Ben Agbedanu said on August 9, this year, at about 1500 hours, Harrison in an attempt negotiate a curve on the Spintex Road hit the complainant who was by then riding a bicycle. Chief Inspector Agbedanu said when Harrison and the security man stopped and started blaming each other, it resulted in a fight, during which Harrison bit-off the lower lip of the security officer. The complainant then reported the matter to the Police and Harrison was arrested.
