A 45-year old teacher of Amede Presbyterian Primary School, near Suhum, Sam Amoah Larbi, has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour by the Asamankese Circuit Court for defiling a 13-year-old pupil of the school. Larbi was convicted on his own plea.
The Prosecution told the court, presided over by Mr S.S. Appiah, that on September 12, this year, Larbi asked the victim and three other girls to accompany him to his farm to uproot cassava.
After uprooting the cassava, the girls left Larbi at the farm and went home but the accused later sent for the girl to come and help him convey the cassava home and when she arrived he dragged her to the bush and abused her sexually.
He warned her not to report to her parents or she would be dismissed from school. However, on November 20, the victim fell sick and was taken to the Suhum Government hospital where it was discovered she was pregnant.
When her parents confronted her, she mentioned Larbi as one responsible and they reported to the police.
