Teacher strikes mother dead

Roger Hagan, 27, a teacher of St. Margaret Preparatory School at Tema near Accra, had had unstable relationship with his mother for many months, the mother having allegedly refused to show him his real father, reports the P&P.

The paper says it gathered that on June 22, 2001, Roger as usual picked up a quarrel with his mother, and in the course of the hot argument, allegedly hit the head of the woman several times with a concrete block, thus opening very deep cuts on her head and eventually resulting in her death.

Roger was subsequently arrested by the police who charged him with murder.

He had since appeared before the Tema Community Tribunal on a charge of murder, and has been remanded in custody to re-appear on July 16, 2001.
