Ghanaian journalist Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has shared how comments made by her fellow journalist regarding Otumfour Osei Tutu II have negatively impacted her brand.

In an interview on Kofi TV, the seasoned broadcaster revealed that she has received numerous calls and comments from family and fans following the situation.

She explained that many people mistakenly believed she was the one who made the comments about Otumfour.

“My cousins and in-laws thought I was the woman who made that comment until she met Otumfour's elders. Even after I clarified the situation, I posted on Facebook two days ago, and someone still commented negatively, linking it to Otumfour's indecency,” she said.

Vim Lady said she expected her colleague to clarify that they are two different people with the same name, but noted, “I understand her reluctance because she was also under pressure.”

She also recounted a previous experience where her in-laws nearly prevented her from marrying her husband due to confusion over her name, particularly when people mistook her for the wife of journalist Captain Smart.

“When Captain Smart decided to marry Afia Pokua, people thought I was the one, especially since he often signed off his show with that name. The backlash was overwhelming, with people believing I had a husband in Belgium and was divorcing him to marry Captain Smart,” she explained.

“It got to the point where I became so frustrated that I confronted him and asked him to stop ending his shows with my name, but he ignored me,” she added.

Background

Recently, a journalist with Agoo TV, also named Afia Pokua, sparked controversy during a live broadcast where she criticised Otumfour for his perceived silence amidst ongoing disputes involving his subjects.

She advocated for peace but expressed concern over the Asantehene's failure to address disrespect shown toward other tribes, including the Bonos.
