The Emergency of Shaolin

A new chapter in the book of among the Ghanaian community in Toronto is being written with the emergence of young and up coming shining star by the name of Emmanuel Boachie (a.k.a. SHAOLIN).

I have been privileged to witness the journey of such a talented star through personal relations and his tremendous performances at local events.

Across the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to London, word reached me of Shaolin?s interest in hip life music.

I was taken aback by such news since I never imagined Shaolin as a hip life material. Time and tide they say waits for no man, so I eagerly anticipated my return to Canada to witness what he has to offer. I was dumbfounded with what I heard and saw upon arrival.

Even though his material, at that time, was not comparable to that of the legends, his passion and dedication spoke volumes and I was in no doubt convinced of his success. Over the years Shaolin improved and won the admiration of the Ghanaian community in Toronto and was invited to perform at a local fashion show.

He has since performed at other cultural events such as the Annual Ghanaian Independence Day celebration, the Miss Africanada Beauty Pageant, and the Miss Ghana-Canada Beauty Pageant.
Shaolin has also opened for live performance of Obrafour, Nana Quame, Tic Tac, the Trinity and other artists that have performed in Toronto. In 2005, even as an underground Artist, Shaolin and his Naamafour group were invited to perform at the Ghana Music Awards in UK and also participated in a show in La Palm Beach Hotel in Ghana. Yet his break-through performance and recognition was back in 2002 in February when he performed with Obrafour at The Royal Canadian Legion Hall on Irwin Road.

The youngest of 3 brothers, Shaolin developed the love for through the music of such talents as Obrafuor, Okyeame Kwame, Obour, Reggie Rockstone, Kwaadee, and others. After many years of performing at local clubs and functions, he started working on his debut album titled ?AGYENEGYENENSU?.

Like his mentors, Shaolin writes his own music with well constructed sense making rhymes and rhythms. Through hard work, dedication and his true love for; this young man has now embarked on a journey that he could only dream of 7 years ago. ?AGYENEGYENENSU?,

Shaolin?s debut album features Kwabena Kwabena of 'Asor' fame, Screwface, Nagee, Dompe, Paa Tommy, King Fadi, Flex and many more. On April 22 2007, come witness the commencement of another legend at Luna Ballroom Banquet Hall, 30 Gordon McKay Road, North York, Ontario, Canada, where Shaolin Launches ?Agyenegyenensu? to the world.

Congratulations Shaolin and best of luck in the future.
