THE FRANCHISE Management and Entertainment has launched the ‘Rebirth of Kweku Ananse,’ which is scheduled to hit the theaters in Accra in September 2010.
The Deputy Managing Director of Ghana Commercial Bank, Samuel Sarpong, speaking at the launch, said it was an innovational rebirth of a timeless character, promising a future and continuity of a character which had entertained his generation during childhood. He stated that “although ananse stories have been told over and over again, there is still more to hear and learn about the character ananse as well, as it keeps broadening ones knowledge and aspirations in life.’’
Mr. Sarpong, who doubles as the Trustee of the Project, noted that “there are moral lines to all Kweku Ananse stories”, adding, “As well as they are funny, they can easily convey messages to people that pay particular attention to its lines.”Kwadwo Owusu, the author of the script, explained that “there are Kweku Ananse stories that advise human beings not to take the world that God has given to mankind into their hands, as nobody on this planet can own it.”
Mr. Owusu, who is also a partner of the Franchise Entertainment, added that “there are twists to kwaku Ananse stories that still need to come out for people to know so that they don’t fall victims when people play those tricks on them.’’Kwasi Addo Boateng, who is also a partner of the organization, could not hide his joy and appreciation for a job well done.
He said “I’m praying that the Almighty God will continue to protect and shower His blessings on this company of ours and will fill us with more inspirational stories, to become blessings to those who will read and watch all our programmes.’’
