Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Salma Mumin has shared her disapproval of the way media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, known as Delay, conducted a recent interview with the late founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor.

Speaking on United Showbiz on UTV Ghana, Salma described Delay’s style as disrespectful, citing it as unprofessional and often feeling like a personal attack.

Salma, who has previously been interviewed by Delay, remarked that the latter's questioning style and expressions can make guests feel as though they are “under attack.”

Reflecting on Delay’s interview with Akua Donkor, Salma stated, “I felt there was a lot going on... the disrespect was too much, aside from the fact that she was doing her job.”

She observed that some presenters, even if questions are pre-planned with the guest, ask unexpected or pointed questions to provoke a reaction, which she views as intentionally hurtful.

Salma compared this approach unfavourably to American singer Beyoncé’s strategy, noting that Beyoncé ensures her interviews are planned to avoid any disrespectful interactions.

According to Salma, while Delay's questions weren’t inherently problematic, her tone and persistence created discomfort.

“When you ask your guest a question and they answer, it should end there. If you keep hammering on the same question, it’s like you are expecting a different answer... It means you have evil intentions,” she emphasized, adding that this style feels like a deliberate attempt to embarrass the guest.

Salma’s critique has added to the ongoing conversation about the ethics of interviewing, sparking discussions on respectful engagement in Ghanaian media.
