Popular Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang has revealed that the smallest paycheck he ever accepted for a movie role was GH₵4,000 back in 2018.

During a conversation on 3FM on July 8, 2024, he disclosed that it was the same project that offered him this modest sum that also led to Anang receiving his inaugural Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Actor.

He, however, stated that his decision to take on the role was because he “believed in the content” of the movie rather than the financial reward.

“I’m talking of 2018. No, I’m not joking. You see it was one that I had believed in the content and that actually brought me my first AMVCA best actor award,” he said.

Opening up about the industry's hurdles, including budget constraints and content quality, he revealed that he has often participated in low-budget films that actually had substantial content.

“Well, lack of character development is an issue, but because of my experience, I'm able to handle it. It's an issue, but there's always a way out. More so, the text when you realise there has not been more research because whatever we put out there is going to have implications for the audience,” he added.
