Theatre Arts in Ghana, though gradually gaining acceptance is still a very difficult venture to pursue.
In an interview with Focus FM’s Kwame Poku after the staging of “Trials of the Ghanaian” in Kumasi, Uncle Ebo Whyte revealed that it takes a lot of publicity and interpersonal communication to get patronage for a show.
The playwright however encouraged upcoming writers not to give up on their passion but persevere even if the circumstances do not seem right.
The well attended play was staged at the Georgia Hotel in Kumasi last Saturday and was in two sessions.
Uncle Ebo Whyte, who writes and directs his own plays, revealed that Roverman Production holds one audition each year to select people who are disciplined and have a passion for acting.
He says the next show “Everyone has a secret” will be opened to people in Accra on 28th November and Kumasi on Christmas day.
