Iconic Ghanaian gospel musician, Esther Smith has cautioned gospel musicians to take their music seriously due to the numerous attacks within the scene.

In an interview with Hitz FM, she stated that artistes should not focus on the fame and prestige that comes with being an artiste but should be serious in the service to God.

“I always say that when it comes to gospel music, we should take it seriously. It’s not I want to be famous; I want everybody to see me. We should take it seriously because there are so many attacks on it. It’s not about fame,” she stated.

Smith contrasted gospel music with hiplife, explaining that gospel music is centred on ministration.

“When it comes to hiplife, they are going on their way but when it comes to praises and worship, you are ministering Christ, the anointed one, to the people, to the sickness, so we need to take it very seriously,” she noted.

Meanwhile, Accra is set for an inspiring evening of praise and worship as Esther Smith takes the stage at Perez Dome, Dzorwulu, on August 30, 2024.

The concert will also feature performances by renowned gospel artists such as Pastor Joe Beecham, Noble Nketiah, OJ, Beck Bonney, and Morris Babyface.
