There is no top-class rapper in Ghana – EL aims subtle dig at Sarkodie

Rapper, EL Rapper, EL

Rapper EL has said that there is no need for any musician to brag about being the best rapper or top class artiste in Ghana.

The artiste asserted that he does not support the increasing unhealthy rivalry in the music industry, adding that people should stop associating him which such rivalries.

Sarkodie recently got the industry buzzing after he released his ‘Sub Zero’ song. The song threw several jabs at the likes of Ball J, Asem, Shatta Wale and generated a series of arguments on social media.

However, the artiste shockingly revealed in an interview with TV3’s MzGee that he had not even heard of Sarkodie’s ‘Sub Zero’ talk less of assessing the track hence the public should desist from associating the track with him because there is no top class rapper in Ghana.

The ‘Kaalu’ hitmaker advised his colleague musicians to refrain from the unfriendly competition and ‘beefs’ because it's not good for the entertainment industry.

“If it is going to be a competition, it should be a competition that helps each other to grow and to develop”. He said.

However, when quizzed about where he places himself as a rapper in the Ghanaian music industry, the artiste stressed that no artiste can compete with him because he is in a class of his own.

“I don’t place myself anywhere, the thing is I have grown and I have come to realise that, when it comes to rap nobody is better than anybody. There is no best rapper. Rap is an art form and the thing about art is you can’t do arts better than anybody else…so all the competition that goes on and stuff, I’m in a class of my own… when I see those lists, it’s sad to me because people are getting boxed up and I’m just not in that class,” he said.
