There is nothing evil about Sallahfest - VVIP

Maverick hiplife music group VVIP have debunked claims suggesting that their annual Ramadan programme, ‘Sallahfest’ is unislamic.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Ayeeko drive show hosted by Deejay Advicer, Prodigal, a member of the group said they have hosted the program since the 90’s and have always gone through the processes to get the right permit for the show.

According to him, most of the chiefs and some community members are involved in the organization of the annual event hence it comes to them as surprise that a section of people are saying their activities are un-Islamic.

“This is something we have done from the 90’s and most of the chiefs and community members are involved in the various processes. We don’t get up to do this.  If it were to be negative, we wouldn’t be doing this but it is positive that’s why we keep doing this. We go through some processes that is why we’ve been able to sustain this all this while. It’s a celebration where we feed thousands of people in the morning before mounting the stage in the evening with several artistes.” Prodigal told Mercy Bee, producer of Ayeeko on Happy FM.

He added that this year’s event brought together several top personalities including Black Stars player Sulley Muntari, Pato Ranking and Yaa Pono.
