Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall musician, Ras Kuuku, has clapped back at critics who claim he only won the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year award at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards because Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were disqualified.
According to him, he received the award based on merit and hard work.
He further described people who claim he was undeserving of the award as jokers.
“They are jokers. They don't know what to do. They don't have any plans when they talk about it. I just move on. But we're happy we won that because it's part of the history. You can't take that,” he said in an interview with MX24 TV.
Reflecting on the history of the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category, Ras Kuuku pointed out that only three artistes have won the award: Stonebwoy, himself, and Epixode.
He expressed pride in being part of this exclusive group.
Reacting to Stonebwoy giving him a shoutout at the 2024 TGMAs, Ras Kuuku said, "Stonebwoy is a brother. And before he won the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, I said he was going to win that award because he had done a lot of work, both in Ghana and outside Ghana, so he deserved to win that," he said.
