Renowned Ghanaian musician Nana Fynn, also known as 2Lock, has stated that the misconception that smoking marijuana, also known as ‘weed’ could improve one’s voice is ‘foolishness.’

In an interview on Accra FM on July 7, 2024, Nana Fynn shed light on common misconceptions surrounding vocal performance.

He stated that there was a physiological connection between the ear and the throat, explaining that while many individuals possess naturally good voices, a lack of proper connection can hinder their singing abilities.

Nana Fynn strongly dismissed the notion that substance use, particularly marijuana, could enhance vocal capabilities, saying "If you do not train your voice, even if you take weed every day, you would not be able to sing well. Thinking weed will make your voice better is foolish thinking."

He pointed out that confidence is a crucial element in singing, adding that those who turn to weed may simply be lacking confidence.

Nana Fynn addressed other myths related to voice training. He confirmed that bananas are beneficial in clearing mucus from the throat, which can be advantageous for singers.

However, he warned against the immediate use of the voice after consuming cold water, as it can have a detrimental effect on vocal quality.

Nana Fynn Acquah Harrison rose to fame with his debut album 'Ankwansema' in 2000 and has since released several successful albums, earning multiple Ghana Music Awards.

Beyond his music career, he has contributed to gospel music, operates a studio and a barbering salon, and enjoys football, snooker, and reading historical and religious texts.
