Kwabena Kwabena’s manager, Nana Poku Ashis, has recounted a troubling incident involving his artiste and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Ashis, some friends of Kwabena Kwabena, who facilitated a meeting with the party leadership, took money on his behalf without his consent.

Ashis disclosed that after Kwabena Kwabena composed a campaign song for the NPP in 2016, he believed he was doing it for free.

However, the party’s executives were under the impression that they had paid a fee through intermediaries.

“Some people charged on his head. Some of his friends that led him to go and meet the party leadership, charged on his head. So, the party knows that they’ve given Kwabena something through somebody. Where the money dey? He never got the money," he stated in an interview with Joy Prime.

Narrating further, he said when Kwabena Kwabena later approached the party to claim the payment, he was informed that the funds had been officially transferred and was even shown documents to support the claim.

Ashis however advised musicians who compose campaign songs for political parties to ensure they handle transactions directly with the parties to avoid similar issues in the future.

He also asked musicians who have composed or are yet to produce songs for political parties to ensure that they deal with them on business terms and charge accordingly.
