Ms Patricia Obobi of EM’s Hair Gallery Salon in Accra has won this year’s Golden Scissors Skills award competition held in Accra last Monday.For her prize, Ms Obobi took home an amount of $500 and a hamper containing Carson hair products while Ms Liberty Nutsugah from Lady Lee’s Hair Care salon who placed second received an amount of $200 and Carson products.
Madam Regina Asare from Salon De Recan in Takoradi who came third, took a $100 prize as well as Carson products.
All three winners will represent Ghana at the West African Final Golden Scissor Award to be held at the International Conference Centre, Accra, in July this year.
The Golden Scissor award is an annual awards ceremony organised by Carson Products West Africa Limited for professional hair stylists to showcase their work as well as to recognise their support, loyalty and contribution to the hairdressing industry.
The 10 contestants who were carefully selected from more than a hundred entries, showcased their styling expertise and creativity by presenting two hair styles each which can be worn for the day and night.In her welcome address, the Marketing Development Manager for Carson Products West Africa, Mrs Natalie Lorence said the event provides a platform to recognise and award some of the most promising hair stylists in the country.
She said Carson products has become an important part of the hairdressing industry in Ghana, adding that the ceremony is aimed to further invest in the industry and provide a wider range of the highest quality products. Mrs Lorence said “It is your trust and love for our brands that have made them the number one choice for professional hairdressers”.
She announced that similar skills competition will be held in Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire this year and plans are in place to continually broaden the scope of the competition on an annual basis.
