Ghana’s hip life heavyweight Tinny has collaborated with Nigeria’s celebrated artiste Timaya in his upcoming single.
The new song, ‘New Chapter, will be released this week in Ghana and Nigeria.
The song has very interesting lines as the artistes tried to outshine each other. As fans are patiently waiting to hear the song, it is expected to keep both artistes relevant in the music industries of both countries.
It is the first time Tinny and Timaya are collaborating for their large fan base across Africa.
Timaya is a Port Harcourt born Nigerian musician and has not less than four albums to his credit. He is known for hit songs. He started out with a couple of early collaborations with some underground artistes and was a back-up singer for Eedris Abdulkareem. He was featured in an unreleased video by UDX, a rap group based in Lagos.
His first major hit was the song ‘Dem Mama’, an account of the 1999 destruction of Odi, a riverine community in the oil producing Niger Delta, by soldiers hunting down militants who were alleged to have killed eight policemen. The village was burnt down and numerous people killed.
Timaya bravely tackled the topic years later and won instant street credibility for his boldness. He is currently one of the reigning top artistes in Nigeria.
Tinny needs no introduction in Ghana’s music industry. He has also been in the game for long. Born Nii Addo Quaynor, he is a performer, producer, writer and rapper. He had smash hit with his ‘Makola Kwakwe’ album after his debut.
In 2007, Tinny was picked by MTV to have his video for ‘Incomplete’ shot by world renowned director Rachel Watanabe-Batton. This track was taken from his ‘Aletse Ogboo’ album.
Barely a month ago, he released a music video for his ‘Something Something’ after the successful release of the video for his hit track, ‘Anaconda’ some five months ago.
The video for ‘Anaconda’ has been doing well on prominent video charts across the country’s TV networks.
