Tinny this is below the belt

A friend once told me that a positive lyrical beefing brings about healthy competition and uses the Ex-Doe and Chicago, Maba album as an example.

But the way things are done here is very appalling and distasteful. Musicians gather at Joints or clubs and what they do is to cast insinuations and black mail their own colleagues. Some also carry them directly into their songs and seriously it affects them.

But if the young ones are at it and those perceived to be “seniors” decided to be part of these animal farm kind of thing then, something is wrong. Konkonsa-Ba overheard that Terry of Mframa fame and Papi of 5Five were at loggerheads.

They were said to be dissing each other with impunity. My vexation is not with the guys but with Tinny who is supposed to know better but decided to take issues with Terry, whom he accused of passing some bad comments about him. Now everybody is complaining about the standard of Hiplife and downwards trend of the brand but we rather choose to fight over unnecessary things or beefing.

I don’t blame anybody but some of our presenters and sound engineers who have taken delight in doing that. They try to put words between these guys who innocently react sheepishly without thinking of the consequences.

The future of the industry looks gloomy if we should continue like this but those who want to be taken serious let them play the right cord and we shall be there.
