She pleaded guilty for possessing the prohibited substance, which weighed 10 grams.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kofi Frimpong told the court presided over by Mr. Godwin Kwasi-Kumah that about 1915 hours on October 2, last year, Denyo, a native of Akruvi in the Republic of Togo but resident at Aflao brought some food to her boyfriend named Shaka, who was then in police custody at Aflao over a theft case. He said in a matter of minutes after the delivery of the first food, the police officer on duty at the charge office saw Denyo reappeared with another food which she was about to pass on to the cell inmates but the officer who became suspicious called for the plastic bag containing the food.

Mr. Frimpong said alongside the cooked rice in the container, the officer discovered four wrappers of dry leaves, which was later tested to be Indian hemp. He said Denyo's boyfriend denied ever sending her for the substance, while the man, name not available, from whom Denyo claimed to have bought the hemp remain on the run.
