Jon Germain has narrated the story of how a bold decision by Tommy Annan-Forson shot him into the limelight and totally transformed his life.

The media and music star spoke on 3FM.

Germain said his big break was orchestrated by “Tommy Annan-Forson, singlehandedly”.

He remembered “a lot of people” opposed the idea of “the guy in the library” at then Choice FM “going to host a show”.

“They said, 'There are other presenters who have been doing this for a while and if you want to add another show to the station’s programmes, you can always give it to another person but then you want to pick the guy in the library to host the show'. People didn’t like that but Tommy said, ‘Listen, he’s going to do it and he can do it’,” Germain, nicknamed The Supremo, narrated.

“And months after, I was hosting the drive-time show and I got to host the midmorning show on Choice as well, and a few years after, I was on Metro TV.”

Tommy Annan-Forson is a radio and comic icon of more than 40 years. He first came to public notice while with the national broadcaster GBC. Later, he served with the first legitimate private radio station in Ghana, JOY FM.

From there, he worked at various radio stations in various capacities, leading them to marketing and commercial success. Throughout his career, and especially through his RABODEF Radio Academy, he has trained and mentored numerous media talents who have become movers and shakers in the industry.

The debonair Jon Germain became a national sensation when he hosted a magazine entertainment show on Metro TV once called Allo Buzz but rebranded to Allo TiGo.

His keen sense of fashion and his personality became larger than life, influencing many within and outside the media world. He shot up even higher when his first album was released in 2009, In My Head.

The radio and TV star’s singing and songwriting, and the sound engineering handled by Kaywa, stunned the industry with its refined and international touch.

The last time Germain was on radio was on Starr FM. After almost 6 years, in 2020, he said goodbye on The Zone midmorning programme. He currently hosts the I Am Jon Germain (IAJG) TV show, airing on MX 24 TV, Channel 247, Air TV Nigeria, SKY TV UK C7 181, and on YouTube, during which he interviews the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry.

In 2023, The Supremo became the first Ghanaian celebrity to launch a perfume line called EL Supremo Jon Germain.
