Tourism Minister travels a lot but no results – Bulldog excited over travel ban

Head of A&R for music at Zylofon Media, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson aka Bulldog has commended the President, Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo for imposing a ban on all his ministers and all government appointees from embarking on foreign trips.

Bulldog who was excited about the decision by Government wrote on his Facebook Timeline, “The president’s ban on ministers galloping around the world with tax payers money is the MOST SENSIBLE of all decisions taken since he assumed office… And its especially good for the one below… “She’s traveling all over place” in the name of tourism to no avail and has totally neglected the creative arts… God bless the president of Ghana”.

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Catherine Afeku in recent times has come under severe backlash from most industry stakeholders questioning her incessant travels outside the country.

However, sources close to the Ministry have said the Minister’s trips is mostly tourism-related trips where she seeks different ideas to help turn the industry around.

Akufo-Addo bans Ministers, other appointees from foreign trips

A memo sent to all government appointees by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare stated that only the Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey is exempted from the directive.



The memo added that guidelines in respect of future foreign travels aimed at minimizing disruption to Government’s domestic work will be communicated shortly.

TEMPORARY BAN ON FOREIGN TRAVELS BY ALL MINISTERS, DEPUTY MINISTERS, MMDCEs AND HEADS OF GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

The President of the Republic has directed that, all foreign travels by Hon. Ministers, Deputy Ministers, MMDCEs and Heads of Government Agencies be temporarily suspended with immediate effect.

Guidelines in respect of future foreign travels aimed at minimizing disruption to Government’s domestic work will be communicated to you shortly.

The Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is however exempted from this temporary ban on foreign travels.
