Ghanaian dancehall musician Ras Kuuku has criticised the ongoing social media ‘toy gun challenge’ in Kumasi, describing it as both ‘immature’ and ‘dangerous.’

In an interview on 3FM, Ras Kuuku warned that the brandishing of toy guns in public could have serious consequences, as it could be exploited by some individuals to commit crimes.

He urged those involved to abandon the trend and emphasised the risks associated with guns, whether real or fake.

"You see that gun challenge going on? I want people to know they shouldn’t play with it, and nobody should support that. Anything that involves guns must be treated with great caution. That’s why our forefathers said, 'The inside of a gun is dark.'" Ras Kuuku stated.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has announced in a press statement that 26 individuals have been arrested in connection with toy gun-related offences.

According to reports, these individuals were caught brandishing and recklessly firing toy guns in public, causing insecurity.

The police, following the arrest of the individuals, have assured the public that they are committed to maintaining peace and security in the country.

The suspects are currently assisting the police with their investigations and will soon face prosecution in court.
