Trader remanded for smearing co-tenant with faeces

Kumasi, May 13, GNA - A 27-year-old trader accused of smearing a co-tenant's room with human excreta has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

Vera Frema Frimpong was convicted on her own guilty plea and her punishment was deferred to May 14, 2010. Police Chief Inspector F. K. Banson told the Court presided over by Mr Justice D.W.P. Amedior, that the convict and Afia Animah, the complainant live in the same house at Gyinyase in Kumasi.

Relations between them had been frosty. On February 27, at about 0900 hours, Animah was sweeping at the back of her room when someone informed her that Vera had entered her room with a chamber pot.

The prosecution said when she rushed to the room the convict had already come out but was met with a shocking sight. Her bed sheet, mattress, pillow cases, curtains and carpet had been smeared with human faeces. He said a formal report was made to the police. Vera in her caution statement admitted the offence and said it was a pay back, claiming Animah had earlier daubed her son with faeces.
