A US-based Ghanaian model, Kwame Sarfo, has established a scholarship scheme to help needy but brilliant Ghanaian students pay for their tuition fees.
Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, Kwame Sarfo indicated that the purpose of his scholarship is to ensure that, no student’s chance to school and education is blocked due to financial difficulties.
He recalled the struggles he had to endure and go through while in school just to pay his tuition fees and how he had to sleep in his car briefly after completing school just so he could repay loans he took for school.
“In a bid to support the academic dreams of students in Ghana, I launched the Sarfo Scholars scholarship program. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to high school and university students who demonstrate academic potential and financial need,” he said in a viral video on Instagram.
His journey towards fame however began when he landed a job after school, and was picked up as a model by four agencies.
The US-based Ghanaian model came into the spotlight when a viral video of him working out secured him offers from four offers from top notch modelling agencies in the US.
In an earlier publication by GhanaWeb, Kwame Sarfo explained that he did not record himself with the intention of becoming famous, rather, he was working on himself after he was inspired by a podcast he listened to.
He said, “I was listening to a podcast and they said the most successful people wake up before sunrise and that Bill Gates wakes up before 4:30. It also said that Bill Gates wakes up at 4:30, so I said to myself, ‘If he can wake up at 4:30, I gotta catch up to him’. So everyday when I wake up at 4:30, I say a quick little prayer to God, and I just get to it.”
