VIP, Happy FM Rock Nima With Salafest Jams

To thank the Muslim community and fans of the station on their seventh anniversary, Happy 98.9FM organised a massive street jam with Ghana’s Hip-life trio VIP to celebrate with residents of Nima after their fasting period in the just-ended Ramadan.

Held at the Nima Highway on Friday, the Happy FM Sala Street Jams drew a large crowd from Nima, New Town, Pig Farm, Mallam Attah, Circle, Mamobi, Kanda, Russia, Sukula, Madina, Fadama, and other Muslim dominated suburbs of Accra.

Management, staff and presenters of Happy FM were there in their numbers to interact with the crowd who could not have enough of VIP, Tic Tac, Nana Boro and all the other guest artistes on board who blazed the atmosphere with sensational music all day till mid-night.

According to Station Manager, Bismark Brown, Happy FM is committed to offering a total entertainment package to its listeners through sports and any other means possible. “The Sala Street Jams is one such means through which we can best connect with our Muslim brothers and sisters especially at a time like this. It’s a double celebration for us; crowning Ramadan and a new beginning for Happy FM as we enter our eighth year”

Other activities marking Happy FM’s seventh anniversary include a live band/dinner concert at Poks Canteen, a clean-up exercise at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital and a thanksgiving service held at the Word Miracle Church International where Bishop Agyin Asare prophesied into the future of the station.

Head of Events Charles Osei Assibey says “Happy FM is thankful for all the support it has received from listeners for the past seven years. With Happy Sports adjudged the Radio Programme of the Year, it’s only a new beginning for Happy FM and the best is yet to come”

Happy sports won the Radio Programme of the Year 2009 in the Chartered Institute of Marketing – Ghana (CIMG) Awards held recently at the Banquet Hall, Accra. Happy FM has previously won several awards including the Football Station of the Year in 2008 and the Station of the Year consecutively in 2005 and 2006.

The Happy FM Sala Street Jam was sponsored by Vodafone, Blue Jeans Energy Drink, YFM and e.tv Ghana.
