VIP Makes Ghana Proud

VIP and Goodies display thier Channel O Award
During the Second Channel O African Awards at the Nelson Mandela Theatre on March 31 in South Africa, VIP ? Ghana?s hottest group won the Best Group Award with their hit track ?Ahomka Womu.

After several preparations and impressive performances throughout the year, there were no doubts that they really deserved the award.

Tribes of many colours all over the world really showed interest in VIP accompanied by Goodies (Producer) and Bola Ray of Joy FM as they cheered them when they mounted on stage for their award.

VIP on behalf of their producer thanked everyone who supported them in diverse ways

VIP In Liberia and Sierra Leone

On 11 February 2005, VIP shook the Sam Doe Sports Stadium in Liberia when the Liberian government and the United Nations organized a peace and reconciliation concert.

Before the programme, they had a press conference on the 10 February in the office of the Minister of Tourism about the event and the importance of the event.

Over 40,000 waited in hushed anticipation to see the crowd-moving group VIP upon hearing a lot about them in Ghana and on their national televisions and radio stations.

With fans screaming and caps (baseball) pulled low, the crowd at the stadium was definitely ready for the show.

The crowd went ape when VIP cam on stage warming them with uplifting tunes like ?Ahomka Womu?, ?Sisi Na Adee Wom?, ?Besen? and the likes.

Though dripping with sweat, VIP never exhausted their reserve of energy through the entirety of ?Besen?, ?Sisi Na Adee Wom? and the one time chart dominating track ?Ahomka Womu?.

Nigerian actress Patience Ozokwor was the master of ceremony. Clearly, some in the audience were VIP?s fans, but as soon as they dropped onto the stage, the looks of all the other gents, oldies and ladies showed that they were in tune with their style.

The over 40,000 audience that had gathered in front of the colourfully decorated stage at the stadium was a typical ready-to dance crowd.

They wandered out with a wide smile and waved to the over packed crowd before thanking those who could not get in the gates, who could be seen and heard dancing and cheering in the surrounding streets.

VIP?s performance evolved into much more than just a concert. Besides the broad line up of artistes, the variety of food and drinks available and the fancifully dressed people, the event was timed for maximum impact.

Other artistes like Nawasa of Guinea, Savan Alla from Cote D?Ivoire also gave off their best. There were other performances from Ambassador Juli Andee (Liberian?s prominent artiste) and a group from Senegal.

VIP accompanied by their producer Goodies and Jimmy B left for Sierra Leone for another exciting concert all in the name of reconciliation and peace that was also organized by the United Nations.

They had another press launch on the 17 February, and also paid a courtesy call to the Ghana High Commissioner to Sierra Leone who had read in their newspapers that they were in town and as such invited them over for lunch on February 18.

One interesting is that they were served Ghanaian dishes, which they enjoyed a lot and even took some away.

As some people were busily preparing for their traveling outside the country, others were preparing for the show that was due to come on at their national sports stadium after several interviews on television stations and radio stations.

The proceedings kicked off on February 19 with Patience Ozokwor being the master of ceremony. The bill boasted an eclectic mix of music that, while featuring sensations like VIP and Jimmy B, also included performances from artistes from various countries.

You should have been there to witness their dynamism on stage, how they moved the crowd into frantic ecstasy.

Kudos to VIP for a job well done and watch out for them in Liberia for another exciting show on June 26 as they collaborate with Ambassador Julie to unite people through music. VIP, Praaa!
