A member of the VVIP music group, Reggie Rockstone, has hinted that the trio went off the music scene for over a year because they have been working on a new album which would be released in the coming weeks.
According to Reggie, affectionately called the “Grandpapa” of Hiplife, unlike new music groups that are hassled or pressured to release songs, VVIP is a household name in the music industry and thus do not need to rush in releasing a song If they aren’t ready.
Speculations were rife that Reggie Rockstone has departed the music group VVIP, but in an exclusive interview with www.ghanaweb.com, he said, “We are recording an album and we are not under pressure. It is not like we are a new group; we have been around for so long so and we will serve it to Ghanaians when it is ready soon”.
“Unlike the new artistes; we don’t have those burdens to release a song. When the time is due we will drop what we have been working on so keep your fingers crossed,” he added.
The VVIP music group has been off the radar for over a year without releasing a new hit song.
Reggie Rockstone has not been seen performing with his team members on stage, a recent instance being their appearance at the 2019 Sallafest on June 5 at Nima in Accra.
Although he told www.ghanaweb.com that there had been no talks of him leaving yet, Reggie Rockstone has been embarking on a lot of solo projects in recent times.
He has released a couple of works including ‘11:11’ which features rapper Sarkodie.
The Hiplife grandpapa born Reginald Yaw Asante Osei in 2014 was announced as the new plan and the new member.
After joining, the group was renamed VVIP amidst several controversies. The group has since produced hits like Selfie, Skolom, Koliko, and Alhaji featuring Nigerian superstar, Patoranking.
