Last Friday was an exciting moment as the crème de la crème of Ghana’s silver-screens converged at the Silverbird Cinema for the premiere of Bandex productions’ latest movie ‘Million.’
Among those present were Albert Kuvodu otherwise called Daavi oo Daavi, Augustine Abbey aka Idikoko, Emmanuel Amah, Bob Smith aka Diabolo, Prince Yawson popularly known as Waakye, Linda Quarshiga, Vincent MaCauley of ‘Things We Do For Love’ fame and a number of others.
These actors have not been active in front of the cameras lately. Most of them now find solace producing their own movies, leaving the frontlines for currently reigning champions. Last Friday’s premiere was like an old school reunion or a funfair for the former big screen boys and girls to gather under one roof to share memories and also see the new movie.
While some were seen posing for the cameras and chitchatting with some media personnel, others gathered in groups and engaged in conversations, some which were characterized by laughter.
Also present were names like Ekow Smith Asante, Juliet Ibrahim, Omar De 1st, Vicky Zugah and a number of others. Patronage for the premiere was also encouraging, measuring by the numbers that trooped the Silverbird Cinema.
This is the first time Bandex production, owned by famous music producer Ahmed Banda popularly called Bandex, has premiered a movie after emerging on the movie scene barely two years ago. His music artistes like Isaac the showboy, Cee and Ampong were not left out of the premiere excitement as they also made their presence felt.
Bandex’s new movie exposes the greediness in human beings, always wanting what does not belong to them. It is a story about a very wealthy man who purchased 5 million dollars worth of gold from Obuasi and asked private security agents to escort him and the gold to the airport.
But upon reaching the airport, his flight was cancelled. He had to spend the night at the airport. While there, he suffered from a stroke. This thus made the gold a secondary matter for him but certainly not for those around him. His wife, the security officers, children and junior brother, all had some interest in the gold.
The rest of the story is for movie enthusiasts to see for themselves when the movie is finally released on Monday, August 16. The cast for the movie were John Dumelo, Juliet Ibrahim, Vicky Zugah, Kofi Adjorlolo, Vivian Achor, and Omar De 1st among others.
