Viasat 1 premieres the Latin American telenovela “Eva Luna”, on Thursday 17 May 2012 at 6:30 PM GMT.
The telenovela will begin transmission as a replacement of the telenovela, “Untamed Soul” which ends Wednesday 16 May at 3pm. “Eva Luna” is a love story set in Los Angeles, California, Eva Luna revolves around the life of Eva González, a young woman of extraordinary beauty, humility and hardworking.
Like so many immigrants coming to America, Eva arrives with her father and younger sister to California in search of a better life. However, Eva does not imagine that to find happiness she will first have to suffer a terrible loss, because her life is intertwined with dark family secrets, lies, deception and ambition of a powerful family.
“Telenovelas are an integral aspect of our programming content because Ghanaians love them and they have proved to be a leading attraction to an overwhelming portion of television’s greatest viewing demographic- which is females between the ages of 15 and 49! And to be number 1 it is imperative that we as a channel attract and keep the attention of our viewers thus the need to broadcast great telenovelas”, says Viasat 1 CEO Charlotte Gustavsson.
In mid July 2011 the channel created a slot to host a second telenovela in its weekday program schedule, as part of programming strategies to increase its commercial share of viewing. This move has proved to be positive as critics believe it has further boosted Viasat 1’s popularity among the channels target audience.
Eva Luna is Viasat 1’s eighth telenovela since launch in 2008. The channel has pioneered a new standard in day time television programming in the country since introducing Latin American telenovelas to daytime viewing as opposed to the pertaining prime time airing of the series.
Viasat 1 will air Eva Luna Monday to Thursdays at 6:30pm from 17 May 2012. Other programs set to make first time broadcast on Viasat 1 in the month of May include the 12th cycle of the modeling reality series America’s Next Top Model, which premieres Friday 18 May at 5pm; the reality series I’m in love with Bomaye which premieres Monday 28 May at 4pm; and Don’t forget the Lyrics which premieres Wednesday 30 May at 11:30am.
